 Today I want to explain how to prepare the natural nail in the best way, so that the product adheres well during the duration of the whole treatment.

Wash your hands

 A tip I give you is to have the customer wash their hands as soon as they arrive.

 Like all of us, we touch many things so dirt and bacteria settle on the nail. By making them wash their hands, we clean their surface even more, removing any grease residue that is present on the nail. 

After that it is always good to disinfect the nails with a suitable product.

 Cuticle removal

 I start by saying that products such as gel and gel polishes, are specifically designed to adhere to the nail, not the skin.

 For this reason it is very important not to touch the skin, and to eliminate the cuticles.

 Initially you have to push with the pusher, and if you don’t have an e-file, with the “cutting” part you have to be very careful to remove them all. 

If, on the other hand, you also have the drill, you could make a more accurate preparation because in addition to manually removing them, with a diamond bit we could remove the cuticles more deeply.

 After that, with a 240 file we gently matt the surface of the nail. In the meantime, with this step, we will still remove any cuticle residue, and open the nail blades, so that the product can cling better.

 In addition, if you have an e-file, always with a diamond bit, you could reach points that you cannot achieve with the file. 

It is important, however, not to file the nail too much. If you file too much, the nail plate is thinned, which in its lower layers is more humid. 

Therefore the opposite effect would be obtained, that is lifting. 

Do not touch the nail 

During all these steps it is very important not to touch the nail, especially with the fingertips. 

The purpose of the preparation is to remove the fatty parts of the nail, to opacify it.

 If we touch it we will nullify all the previous steps.

Nail prep and primer

 After preparing the nail, primers must be applied. It is not necessary to apply more than necessary, otherwise they will not help adhesion, on the contrary they will make it more difficult, causing possible lifting.
